जयपुर में राज्यवर्धन के घर ख़ुशी का माहौल

मेजर राज्यवर्धन सिंह राठौर के पदक जीतने की ख़बर मिलते ही जयपुर में कर्नल एलएस राठौर के घर फ़ोन की घंटी घनघनाने लगीं और थोड़ी ही देर में बधाई देने वालों का ताँता लग गया.

उनके घर का माहौल जीत के जोश, भावुकता और गर्व से भरा हुआ था, राज्यवर्धन के बारे में लोग याद कर रहे थे कि किस तरह उन्होंने ओलंपिक के लिए तैयारियाँ की थीं.

राज्यवर्धन की उम्रदराज़ नानी ने रूँधे हुए गले से कहा, "मैं क्या कहूँ, सब परमात्मा की शक्ति है, वही उसका साथ दे रही है."

कर्नल राठौर घर में टीवी पर दम साधे ओलंपिक देखते रहे और जब परिणाम आया तो वे ख़ुशी से झूठ उठे.

राठौरः वो मौक़ा सबसे अच्छा होता अगर इस समय हमारा राष्ट्रगान भी बज रहा होता..तो वो खल रहा था..मगर जिसने स्वर्ण पदक जीता वो काफ़ी अच्छा खेला..तो वो मौक़ा तो उसी के लिए था.

राठौरः हालाँकि ऐसे लोग कम ही हैं मगर वे सभी लोग जिन्होंने भारत की जीत के बारे में विश्वास बनाए रखा मैं उन्हें ये जीत समर्पित करता हूँ.

India Tuesday celebrated as shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore won the country's first medal at the Athens Olympics, making up for a lacklustre performance so far by the rest of the national contingent.

President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi were among those who congratulated Rathore, a major in the Indian Army, for winning the country's first individual silver medal at the Olympics since 1947.

Rathore's father Col. L.S. Rathore, who also served with the 9 Grenadiers, could not be reached for comments as he was away at Jaipur in Rajasthan.

Most of the Indian shooters have exposed themselves to the latest training abroad and appear ready for the Olympic Games in Athens where the competition runs from August 14 to 22.

The best Indian bet for a medal would be in men's double trap through World No. 3 Major Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who has grown in stature by leaps and bounds in the world arena. He has gone from strength to strength after taking the bronze in the ISSF World Cup in New Delhi last year and he is viewed as a serious threat by his main rivals.

The 34-year-old Master in Strategic Studies from Jaipur won the gold in the Sydney World Cup earlier this year with a score of 187 (141 46) that saw him gaining in confidence. Recently he won another gold in the Czech Masters.

He also won the bronze in the World Shooting Championship in Nicosia, Cyprus last year recording a total of 189 points.
